As 5G becomes available in the consumer world, industry leaders are engineering solutions to implement 5G in industrial applications. Ericsson and Audi are testing 5G ultra-reliable low-latency communication and Qualcomm and Siemens have set up the first 5G private standalone network in an industrial environment.
The Japanese PROFIBUS Organization (JPO) joined IIFES2019, the largest automation fair in Japan, from Nov. 27 through 29, 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. About 50,000 people visited the fair over three days. Also there is upcoming training in Belgium, The Netherlands, the United States, and Singapore.

Pepperl+Fuchs acquires Comtrol Corporation -effective February 1, 2019. Comtrol’s technologies will complement Pepperl+Fuchs’ portfolio of sensor solutions and interface technologies that include IO-Link masters, and other industrial connectivity products.
PROFINET@TSN has already become a reality. The first chip vendors have implemented TSN in PROFINET. A live demo at SPS IPC Drives 2018 displayed solutions from three different manufacturers: Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, and Hilscher.
