The demand for industrial communication will grow enormously, including with regard to new applications. And Industrial Ethernet, which sits in the middle of this value chain, will play a big role with all these applications and is a crucial factor in the digitization of industry.

A new partnership between the IO-Link community and the mioty alliance aims to seamlessly integrate the mioty technology into the world of IO-Link with the aim of enabling low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies for industrial IO-Link applications.

New PROFINET products to announce this month include: remote I/O from Festo; AC inverter drives from Parker Hannifin; Ethernet-APL terminals from Beckhoff; Gigabit Ethernet PHYs from Microchip Technology; and servo motors from Siemens.

In addition to the standards and specifications available from PI, occasionally accompanying documents are often produced, for example as articles in technical journals or as conference papers. Regarding PROFINET Security and PROFINET over APL, these papers are now organized on the PI website.

MESCO has expanded its test capabilities to provide pre-certification testing of PROFINET compliance, in addition to environmental compliance. These capabilities allow compliance to be verified beforehand to ensure a smooth certification process.
