The headline from the trade fair organizer: “SPS 2024: Fewer Exhibitors, More Visitors”–this perfectly reflects our current view.

Companies are considering how they can achieve savings or use available resources more effectively in the current economic situation. At the same time, users and manufacturers are reflecting how to respond to these challenges and develop forward-looking solutions. A trade fair is an excellent opportunity to address these questions.

Many of today’s problems can only be solved with automation and communication technology. Innovations that utilize suitable base technologies and fit concrete solution approaches are crucial. At the fair and in our press conference, we were able to present concrete solutions based on our extensive and reliable technology.

PROFINET Security

We are consistently advancing the development of PROFINET Security. After completing Security Class 1, we are developing test cases for certification based on a solid specification. We will provide these steps to the developer community in trial bundles. For users, we will create guidelines to help them prepare for necessary interactions, such as handling certificates and event logging.

APL / SPE / IO-Link

As PROFINET over APL becomes increasingly visible in concrete devices, we are working to establish a consistent technology for SPE at all levels, from the connectors to integration with PROFINET. IO-Link has an impressive success story, recently complemented by IO-Link Safety and IO-Link Wireless. Here too, we already have many more ideas and concepts for additional markets, simpler applications, and new use-cases.

Machine Builders

Our technologies have proven themselves not only in the creation of process control and factory automation systems but also in machine engineering. The increasing demands for transparency, security, and safety are already being met by our technologies today. Therefore, machine innovations will increasingly rely on PI technologies.

35 Years

A good example of how an active organization can promote innovation and technology dissemination was shown at our small celebration for the 35th anniversary. From a startup to a globally leading organization, we must and will face the next challenges.

Sure, we have tough economic times – even for the PI organization itself. But I am convinced that a crucial lever for solutions lies in our technologies and their continuous development by an active community. So, we have good tools at hand. Let’s tackle this together!
