PROFINET / PROFIBUS PA Proxy Receives Update
The latest Version 1.34 of pnGate PA from Softing now includes support for the ABB Field Information Manager (ABB FIM) asset management tool. This extends compatibility with a widely used solution for managing PROFIBUS PA field devices. Previously, pnGate PA enabled configuration and diagnostics of PROFIBUS PA devices via FDT/DTM Pactware and Siemens PDM. With the new version 1.34, ABB FIM has been added as another supported asset management tool.
Certified PROFINET IRT and PROFIdrive Software Stacks
Renesas has introduced PROFINET-certified IRT and PROFIdrive software stack for its RZ/T and RZ/N series of microprocessors (MPU) for industrial networking systems. Renesas implemented a certified PROFIdrive application example for Application Class 4. This includes the implementation of a drive object with a speed setpoint interface. It supports cyclic data exchange via standard telegrams 1, 2, and 3, as well as acyclic data exchange through the PROFIdrive parameter channel. The software can handle diagnostic, process, and status alarms, as well as plug and pull alarms. It assigns IP addresses and device names via PROFINET and through the device application. Furthermore, it includes Fast StartUp functionality, Shared Device support, Media Redundancy (MRP), and System Redundancy (S2).
PROFINET Servo Drive and Motor Starter Kit
Festo has introduced the CMMT-ST servo drive starter kit, providing control engineers and programmers with a cost-effective way to learn commissioning and sizing for Festo’s PROFINET servo drives, which range from 300 W DC to 12 kW AC. Each of these developer kits contains a CMMT-ST 300 W servo drive, EMMT-ST stepper motor with battery-free multi-turn absolute encoder, motor cable, and connectors.
Intelligent Actuators with PROFINET
Rotork has introduced its integrated Ethernet actuator, which is compatible with the PROFINET protocol. With the introduction of Rotork’s integrated Ethernet actuator, a separate gateway is no longer required, enabling a direct connection to Rotork’s IQ3 Pro actuator. The solution is housed within a robust weatherproof or explosion-proof enclosure and supports RJ45 and M12 connection standards. Compatibility is ensured via PI certification, and GSDML files for PROFINET.
Diaphragm Valve Sensing and Control with IO-Link
The Alfa Laval ThinkTop V55 marks the evolution of hygienic diaphragm valve sensing and control units for the hygienic industries, especially the pharmaceutical, biotech, and next-generation food industries. The ThinkTop V55 provides real-time diaphragm valve monitoring through its IO-Link interface, ensuring accurate valve position readings. Its point-to-point IO-Link communication protocol integrates sensors and actuators into any automation system, regardless of fieldbus.
Infrared Temperature Measurement Devices with PROFINET
Optris has introducing new digital interfaces for process automation. The latest pyrometer models from the CT, CTlaser, CTratio, and CSvision series, as well as the Ethernet-based Xi series of infrared cameras (ETH), are now equipped with PROFINET interfaces, enabling even more seamless integration into industrial automation systems. This ensures reliable real-time transmission of temperature measurements, enhancing control and monitoring of manufacturing processes. For quick and hassle-free commissioning, Optris provides GSD files to enable easy device implementation into existing control systems and significantly reduce integration effort. Additionally, the PROFINET interface is certified to ensure seamless compatibility.
Capacitive Proximity Sensor LED Bar Graph and IO-Link
Carlo Gavazzi has introduced two new capacitive sensor series: the CA18CB..IO and CA30CB..IO. These sensors feature an integrated LED bar graph and IO-Link communication capabilities. The sensors incorporate an LED bar that displays ON/OFF stability status. Green LEDs positioned on either side of the yellow switching LED indicate signal stability and dust accumulation levels. This visual feedback system enables real-time monitoring of dirt and dust buildup, indicating when cleaning is required for continued reliable operation. The IO-Link communication functionality provides additional capabilities for diagnostics, extended machine operation time, and inventory optimization.
Laser Distance Sensor with IO-Link
The optoNCDT ILR104x series from Micro-Epsilon are laser distance sensors designed for distance measurements of 10 m without reflector film, and 60 m with reflector film. The ILR104x sensors can be put into operation quickly via their IO-Link interface, and feature linearity ± 20 mm, resolution of 1 mm, and resistance to ambient light up to 50,000 lx. Due to its rotatable cable outlet and its compactness, the sensor can also be mounted in difficult-to-access and narrow places.
