Consorzio PI Italia is organizing two events: one in September and one in October 2025, to focus on modularity and connectivity for the industry of the future. One event is dedicated to MTP (Module Type Package) and the other event is dedicated to IO-Link.
Consorzio PI Italia is the Italian section of PI. They are bringing the first event to Milan, Italy to present MTP. MTP is an emerging technology for process automation for easier, more flexible integration of process automation equipment. On September 23, at the Grand Visconti Palace Hotel in Milan, the event “MTP: flexibility, interoperability, and reduction of time to market for the process industry” will be held for the first time. This is a new initiative for the Consorzio, which aims to open up discussion on a rapidly evolving technology. MTP allows for the creation of modular plants, in which the integration between process modules takes place in a standardized and rapid manner, with clear benefits in terms of scalability, reuse, and engineering optimization. The event will feature technical, institutional, and application contributions, with the participation of industry experts and testimonials from companies that have already launched modular projects.
On October 1, the third edition of IO-Link Day is scheduled to take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Padua. The meeting has become a fixture for those working in the field of automation who wish to explore the potential of IO-Link, an open protocol that enables intelligent communication between field devices, contributing to the digitalization of production processes. The program will focus on topics such as predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, energy efficiency, smart sensors, digital twins, and IT/OT integration. The agenda will be enriched by a demo area with real applications and opportunities for direct discussion between industry operators.
“These two events are designed to demonstrate how open and interoperable technologies can translate into tangible benefits for those who design, manage, or use industrial plants. Both MTP and IO-Link are not just standards, but strategic tools to address current challenges and prepare for those of the future.”
Cristian Sartori, President of Consorzio PI Italia.
Consorzio PI Italia, which represents over 90 member companies and actively participates in major trade fairs and industry initiatives, continues to promote international standards such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, IO-Link, omlox, and MTP throughout Italy, contributing to the widespread adoption of advanced digital architectures. This commitment will continue in the coming months, with additional events and activities already in the planning stages.
