Industrial Switches PROFINET Certified

The Allied Telesis IE340 Series industrial switches recently received PROFINET certification. Offering high throughput, rich functionality and advanced security features, the switches are ruggedized to meet the latest industrial Ethernet standards for temperature, vibration and electrical noise. Device management through Web GUI, SNMP, Telnet, SSH or Allied Telesis Autonomous Management Framework™ Plus and are PROFINET certified for industrial automation and control.

PROFINET over APL Field Switch Ready for Launch

R. STAHL has successfully tested its new PROFINET over APL field switch in extensive practical trials under realistic conditions –and is now launching the product following successful ATEX and IECEx certification. As part of a realistic test setup using PROFINET over APL, more than 200 field devices were operated in a ring topology with 15 field switches connected to a control system. The aim was to assess the interoperability, scalability and performance of the technology and infrastructure components under full load. R. STAHL’s Field Switch passed the test with flying colors, demonstrating high stability, fast redundancy switchover times and full PROFINET compatibility.

New Couplers That Transmit Without Contact

Phoenix Contact has introduced NearFi, a contactless real-time transmission technology. NearFi couplers can transmit up to 50 Watts of power and 100 megabits of data per second, all without physical contact. When solely transmitting data, this Ethernet technology can communicate across an air gap of 40 mm (1.57 in). With NearFi, data and power at the same time or power alone can be transmitted across an air gap of 12 mm (0.47 in). The couplers are protocol-independent and can transmit time-critical Ethernet protocols including PROFINET.

Revolutionary Encoder Technology with IO-Link

Baumer opens up new potential in drive technology and factory automation with innovative LowHarmonics encoder technology. The incremental magnetic ring encoder EB260 is the first product available with this revolutionary technology of signal processing. The bearingless encoder merges the precision of optical sensing with the durability and cost-efficiency of magnetic systems. Another benefit of the encoder is configuration flexibility. This software behind it includes a configurable motion monitor and switching output as well as square-wave, sine/cosine and and IO-Link interface.

New Multi-Turn Absolute Encoders with IO-Link

Novotechnik has introduced the MC-1 2800 Series of 44-turn multi-turn sensors, featuring an IO-Link interface. The sensors use patented non-volatile technology to retain the turn count when power is lost and report the correct count when power is restored. Key specifications for the MC-1 2800 include measuring range of 15,840° (44 turns), measured variable information of angle, turns, speed and limit switch points. Position resolution is 16-bits, and speed is from 0 to 546 rpm.

Retroreflective Area Sensor with IO-Link

The R305 retroreflective area sensor from Pepperl+Fuchs reliably detects irregularly shaped objects from a height of just 2 mm. Due to individual settings, a light bandwidth of 60 mm, and a detection range of up to 4 m, it offers maximum flexibility for various applications. Discover the new retroreflective area sensor, which also features integrated height measurement and an IO-Link interface, providing significant advantages over conventional retroreflective sensors.

Distance Sensor with PROFINET

The R1000 distance sensor with Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) from Pepperl+Fuchs offers a constant accuracy of < 1 mm over the entire measuring range up to 300 m, making it suitable for high-precision distance measurement. With an outstanding small housing depth in this performance class, it is particularly space-saving. Additionally, the new R1000 distance sensor from Pepperl+Fuchs is now available with PROFINET interface.

Pre-Configured Servo Systems with PROFINET

Kollmorgen has introduced its Kollmorgen Essentials™ motion system, a new line of servo motion solutions that combines an optimally matched servo drive, a servo motor with integrated absolute multi-turn feedback, and a combined power/data cable. The Kollmorgen Essentials drive includes PROFINET and the multi-axis synchronization capabilities allow designers to have precise control of multi-axis systems via PROFINET IRT. Kollmorgen Essentials servo motors are rated at 120, 240, 400 or 480 VAC and are designed for the most common power requirements from 200 to 4,000 watts. Each winding delivers a rated speed of 3,000 rpm, with peak performance reaching up to 6,000 rpm.
