PROFINET Protocol for VTUX

As a direct bus integration for the VTUX valve terminal, the compact interface CTED from Festo, offers a very space and cost-optimized option for connecting the VTUX directly to the control system via the PROFINET protocol. With its compact footprint and the cables for communication and power supply in the same direction as the compressed air tubing, CTED saves space and is therefore perfect for applications where space is tight. Thanks to the direct network connection, the valve terminal is also directly visible in the control system. There are three plugs to choose from for CTED: M8 (COM, Power), M12 (COM, Power) and RJ45 (COM) with terminal strip (Power).

Modular Remote I/O with PROFIsafe

With the newly released PROFIsafe module from Festo, the CPX-AP system now offers its first functional safety solution. Data is processed by AP communication processes at high speed and with minimum cycle times. This means that up to 96 valve addresses and several voltage zones are available. With Safety@Festo and PROFIsafe, safety functions are integrated directly into the system. Safety zones can be easily defined and reliably switched off. This reduces the wiring effort while increasing the safety of the system.

Delivery Release for Distributed I/O System

The SIMATIC ET 200BL is Siemens‘ latest innovation in distributed I/O systems, specifically designed as a cost-effective automation solution for different markets and industries. This new system offers an attractive option with optimized functionality while maintaining SIMATIC quality standards. SIMATIC ET 200BL is a distributed PROFINET-based I/O system well suited for distributed automation concepts with price-sensitive requirements. The I/O system supports PROFINET with 2x RJ45 connectors, offering a 1 ms cycle time and IRT (Isochronous Real-Time) support.

Delivery Release for Software Controller with PROFINET

The new SIMATIC S7-1500 Software Controller V40.1 from Siemens offers significant new features: T/TF variants for demanding motion applications, extended SIMATIC IPC support, and the latest version of the SIMATIC S7-1500 PLC as a Software Controller. The SIMATIC S7-1500 Software Controller is an innovative solution that provides the proven functionality of a SIMATIC S7-1500 PLC directly on a PC-based platform. It enables the performance of the S7-1500 controller to be combined with the flexibility and possibilities of an industrial PC. The controller can be used for controlling special and series machines or decentrally for controlling plants. Siemens Hypervisor enables strict separation of hardware resources for the operating system and the S7-1500 Software Controller, for maximum stability and performance. Both Linux and Windows environments are supported. PROFINET IRT is available with cycle times of 500 µs on selected IPCs with a CP plug-in card.

IO‑Link Class A Master in Efficiency Design

TURCK presents two new IP67 IO-Link masters of their Efficiency Line with eight Class A ports, which can alternatively provide up to 12 universal digital inputs or outputs. The cost-efficient devices are designed for applications with limited requirements in terms of current and temperature range and are particularly suitable for connecting smart sensors. They support PROFINET, enabling the cost-effective implementation of complete IO-Link applications without a control cabinet. The Efficiency Line IO-Link masters feature an ultrasonically welded housing with IP67 protection and are designed for ambient temperatures from −25 to +60 °C. Depending on the variant, the ports provide up to 1 A or 0.5 A. An integrated web server with IODD configurator simplifies the parameterization of connected devices and shortens commissioning time.

Robust Flow Sensor with IO-Link

TURCK is adding the FS501 flow sensor to its FS+ fluid sensor series. The robust IP67 device measures flow velocity and volume flow in liquid media and also outputs temperature values. Users can freely configure switching and analog outputs and benefit from easy integration into IO-Link environments thanks to Smart Sensor Profile. The FS501 is suitable for pipe diameters from 15 to 250 mm, covering a wide range of applications in factory automation.

New omlox Starter Kit Announced

NXP Semiconductors has announced the omlox Starter Kit, developed in collaboration with SynchronicIT and Flowcate. The omlox Starter Kit is a complete, end-to-end hardware and software solution to evaluate and deploy Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) based on the omlox standard, allowing customers to bring a standards-based, interoperable RTLS system online quickly. The kit is powered by NXP’s new Trimension® SR048, an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) SoC delivering high‑precision location accuracy needed for complex industrial environments, and the NXP MCX W72 wireless MCU.

Valves with IO-Link Class B Interface

Parker Hannifin has introduced the latest generation of its DFplus valves with an IO-Link Class B interface, expanding the existing IO-Link Class A offering. The newly launched version combines power supply and data communication in a single M12 connector, enabling high dynamic performance, comprehensive diagnostics, and simplified wiring for demanding hydraulic applications. IO-Link Class B is an IO-Link port type that, in addition to the standard IO-Link communication lines, provides an extra, galvanically separated power supply for the power stage. With IO-Link Class B, the complex and costly 6+PE or 11+PE connections are eliminated and replaced by standardized, pre-assembled M12 cabling.

Load Cell with IO-Link

HBK has introduced the PW22i single-point load cell for high-dynamic industrial systems, targeting packaging lines and robotic applications. The new PW22i improves on its predecessor PW22 by integrating the IO-Link communication protocol into the single point load cell. The IO-Link interface digitalizes and automates your weighing application. The PW22i uses an M12 4-pin connector, making it compatible with any IO-Link connection cable. It is also compatible with any IO-Link master and allows seamless integration and modernization of your existing weighing system.
