New I/O Modules with PROFIsafe
Belden has announced the expansion of the Lumberg Automation LioN family with its new LioN-Safety I/O Modules. Designed to support functional safety efforts in industrial operations, the modules streamline the transmission of safety and non-safety-related data over existing networks. The new LioN-Safety I/O Modules support the PROFIsafe protocol (via PROFINET), and give manufacturers a compact, ruggedized product uniquely designed to support the real-time data transmission required in highly automated operations.
Update Offers PROFINET Integration and Enhanced Diagnostics
A new firmware update for Turck‘s TBEN-Lx-SE-M2 managed Ethernet switches allows them to be fully integrated into the typical engineering tool of the PLC. This enables the use of robust IP67 modules as active stations in a PROFINET network, and also allows extensive network diagnostics. MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) enables an increase in network availability and security. Functions such as topology-based commissioning also simplify device replacement and increase efficiency.
Processing Unit for Remote Flow Sensors
Turck is expanding its Fluid+ series with an IO-Link processing unit for remote flow sensors with a plain text display and IP67 protection. The flexible use of different measuring probes enables the FS121 to cover a broad range of applications. For example, the flow sensor solution is ideal for use in modular process skids, lubrication systems, compressor cooling systems in confined spaces, cleaning and washing systems, as well as for applications in the food and beverage industry. It offers user-friendly operation thanks to its 12-segment alphanumeric plain text display and the IO-Link Smart Sensor Profile (SSP).
4-Channel IO-Link Master Transceiver
The new CCE4511 from Renesas is a high-voltage interface IC with overvoltage detection as well as high temperature and overcurrent protection, based on a 0.18µm HV-CMOS technology. Typical applications are industrial IO modules, which support the IO-Link standard. An integrated IO-Link frame handler is provided, which automates most of the lower-layer communication tasks to improve the application performance. The CCE4511 provides the perfect solution for 4, 8, 12, and 16-port IO-Link master applications connecting IO-Link compliant industrial sensors and actuators.
Dual Channel Resistive Sensor Signal Conditioner IC with IO-Link
The new ZSSC3286 from Renesas is a dual path sensor signal conditioning IC for highly accurate amplification, digitization, and sensor-specific correction of sensor signals. The ZSSC3286 supports IO-Link connectivity with an integrated IO-Link stack running the IO-Link Smart Sensor Profile for digital measuring and switching sensors. The device is suitable for bridge and half-bridge sensors, as well as external voltage source elements.
Expanded Communication Interface Range
HMS Networks has launched the Anybus CompactCom B40 Mini, a soldered-on communication interface that complements the Anybus CompactCom 40 series. The Anybus CompactCom B40 Mini features a compact design: Soldered directly onto the device’s carrier board, it is 30% smaller than the pluggable brick, making it ideal for small devices. Delivered in tape-and-reel and ready for automated production through pick-and-place and Surface-Mount Device (SMD) soldering, it is designed for high-volume and cost-effective production.
Ultrasonic Sensors with IO-Link
The ucs ultrasonic sensors from microsonic in a robust metal housing are mechanically compatible with the industry standard for opto-sensors. The sensor series has been updated and now features IO-Link 1.1.2 and Smart Sensor Profile. This means that the ultrasonic sensors can not only measure precise distances, but also transmit identification and status information. Limit values or switching points can be easily set via IO-Link, which significantly increases operating capability.
Laser Power Meters with PROFINET
MKS Instruments, Inc. has announced the Ophir Helios Pro industrial power meter. The Helios Pro is a robust, compact device for measuring high-power lasers, including diode, fiber, and Nd:YAG, with power ranges from 100W to 12kW, and wavelengths from 450-550nm (blue/green) to 900-1100nm (infrared). Ideal for Li-Ion battery welding and other high-power laser-based applications, once integrated into the production control system, fully automated measurements can be made. A PROFINET communication option makes it easy to integrate into manufacturing networks.
