The PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) joint booth focuses on concrete steps for the implementation of industrial communication for Industry 4.0 at this year’s Hannover Messe (April 23-27, 2018). Under the motto “PROFINET – The Backbone of Industrie 4.0,” visitors can learn more details about three out of five key topics.
TSN and Security will be presented with the help of live demonstrations, so that the functionality and benefits are clear. A new video illustrates the direction and functionality of OPC UA as it relates to PROFINET. Additionally, experts from the PI @ Industrie 4.0 working group will be available to answer questions.
The proven PROFINET and PROFIBUS technologies, as well as the PROFIsafe and PROFIdrive profiles will also be on display at the booth. In addition to new products, various use cases will be shown interactively on the booth’s “Technology Walls.”
In the IO-Link area, apart from the variety of gadgets with different masters, devices, and service providers, the IODD Finder (the central, manufacturer-independent database for the device descriptions of IO-Link Devices (IODD)), the topic of IO-Link Safety and IO-Link Wireless will also be presented.
IO-Link Safety uses the proven IO-Link communication as a “black channel” and relies on a safety communication layer certified by the Technischer Überwachungsverein (TÜV). The standardized master interface has meanwhile been incorporated into version 1.1 of the IO-Link Safety specification; nothing significant has changed in the protocol itself. At PI’s booth, you will gain insights into the status of current work, and the first functional demonstrations between an FS master and FS devices – including safety engineering via IODD – will be shown.
IO-Link is like no other technology when it comes to reducing the installation work in field device wiring and takes the wireless theme a step further. The IO-Link Wireless specification has now been adopted. At the PI joint booth at the Hannover Messe, IO-Link Wireless technology will be presented to the public for the first time in the form of a demonstration.
PI and its 92 international co-exhibitors look forward to seeing you in Hall 9, Booth D68, and providing you with lots of information about PI technologies, as well as an open catering area for networking.
