Back in August, at the 29th AADECA Congress, representatives for PI in Argentina delivered a plenary session entitled “From Cable to Data: The New Language of Sensors”, addressing the impact of PROFINET at the field level in process control industries.
The first rounds of Certified PROFINET Engineer trainings have occurred in the last few months, notably training participants on PROFINET PA. The PROFINET PA portion focuses on bringing PROFINET into hazardous areas via Ethernet-APL.

Last month, PI North America and the PICC/PITC Argentina hosted a successful webinar in Spanish language: "Diseño de Redes PROFINET." The event was the first in a 3-part training series. AUTEX-OPEN, a PITC/PICC based in Argentina has produced a very detailed technical document on Ethernet-APL. The document is written in Spanish language and can be downloaded here.

The new “Cobre Panamá” project by Minera Panamá S.A. in Colón, Panamá will produce 300,000 tons of copper, 100,000 oz of gold and 2,500 tons of molybdenum every year. A series of successful PROFIBUS training sessions were conducted on-site by AUTEX-OPEN, a PITC/PICC based in Argentina, to get them ready for production.
