Training and Events (Issue 121)

The 27 Regional PI Associations (RPAs), affiliated PI Training Centers (PITCs), and their members offer a wide range of training classes and events to learn about PROFIBUS and PROFINET.

SPS/IPC/Drives Show

The events are frequently trade shows where the RPAs members provide multivendor Global Training Listdemos. Such a trade show is coming up next month in Nuremberg – the SPS/IPC/Drives Show. PI members from around the world will be at this particular show and the displays will represent many of the 27 RPAs’ companies. PROFINEWS editors and staff will be there to report on the show and press conferences. You can find a report on last year’s show in PROFINEWS 111 and on the PROFIblog.  The fair floor plan has been reconfigured this year, so look for us in a new location, Hall 2 (Booth 220/221). The PROFINEWS App has been nominated for an award and has reached the finals – winner to be announced at the fair.

Training

The training classes fall into two categories: certified and non-certified. Certified classes can be short like a PROFIBUS or PROFINET Installer class or up to a week long to certify network engineers. Non-certified classes may be related to specific topics like PROFINET troubleshooting or free classes that introduce PROFINET or PROFIBUS.

A selection of upcoming classes includes:

  • October 23 in Detroit: free PROFINET one-day training class
  • November 24 in Italy: PROFINET Certified Network Engineer
  • November 25 in France: Certified PROFINET Installer

An invitation to a PROFIBUS workshop:

PROFIBUS made easy, a 1-day Workshop (German language) in Germany, on Dec, 02, 2014 in Alzenau (near Frankfurt/M) and Dec, 04, 2014 in Hamburg.

The workshop teaches you PROFIBUS in the theory and practice from the field device to the controller. You will learn the basics of PROFIBUS so that the design, calculation, and commissioning of a bus system is no longer a challenge. In practical exercises you will learn on your own to select the right PROFIBUS network components and to calculate the bus topology. Another focus is the startup of a small PROFIBUS application: from the physical build-up via the bus diagnostics, parameterization of a field device up to the integration in an ABB control system.

The workshop is intended to decision makers, planning and project engineers, commissioning engineers and service staff. Prerequisite are knowledge of basic process measuring and control technology.  Registration
