HI Industry Expo
HI Industry Expo, the largest Danish industry fair is held every second year in the city of Herning in Jutland. In October, HI 2017 lasted three days and hosted about 20.000 visitors. Although the 16 m2 PROFIBUS booth looked small between the big booths, many visitors stopped by. Many non-members looked into our booth and got information about the activities of the PROFIBUS Denmark association and our parent organization PI. They also interacted with the 5 member exhibits that were a part of the set-up. Several of the guests confirmed that they are interested in a membership and, of course, we will be pleased if we can get more members in the association
Member exhibits shown at HI 2017:
- ProSaiCon: Tools for analysis and troubleshooting on PROFIBUS and PROFINET and hardware modules from Procentec
- GreenMatic: Radio modems from EATON for remote communication on PROFIBUS and a CTI PLC with PROFIBUS interface
- Ifm Danmark: Many different sensors and a mini display for the serial system IO-Link
- Bihl and Wiedemann: Safety equipment on an AS-i bus with a bridge to PROFINET
- Siemens: S7-1500 PLC system, remote IOs, motor starters and a S7-1200 with condition monitoring
PROFINET training in Denmark
Denmark is one of the most advanced countries in its use of PROFINET. Therefore a need for training in maintenance, diagnosis, and troubleshooting in PROFINET installations has grown. Specifically, system integrators and end users have asked for a qualified training.
PROFIBUS Denmark asked Procentec in Holland to carry out the course “Trouble Shooting and Maintenance” on the Danish grounds. The training took place on October 24th and 25th with 20 participants. Although 20 participants are many at such high-tech course, the young – but highly qualified – Dutch trainer, Lorenzo Fattori, conducted the participants through theory as well as practical exercises. The evaluation charts showed high participant satisfaction, the only negative comment was the number of participants per training kit. During the days following the course, several participants sent thank you e-mails for a great training course.

PI technologies for Industry 4.0 showcased at Glyndwr University
Digital communication networks that enable major advances in manufacturing were showcased at a free seminar held at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, North Wales. With Industry 4.0 set to transform the UK economy over the next few years, Wrexham Glyndwr University was delighted to host a highly-focused PI UK event during the last week of September. 56 delegates from the region’s manufacturing companies were present to learn how digital communication networks are a key factor when developing Industry 4.0 solutions. Central to the discussion was the use and practical application of PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and IO-Link in industry. These three networks offer a complete solution for industrial automation in process and manufacturing plants.
