Growth in Automation Seen in Denmark

AUTOMATIK 2018 Fair

The Danish fair – AUTOMATIK – takes place every second year in September in a large sports hall near Copenhagen. There you will find roughly 170 exhibitors. The fair is a definite advantage for PI Denmark because the maximum size of a booth is limited to 20 m2, so all booths receive similar treatment.

The fair is also focused exclusively on automation and therefore the number of visitors might be limited but this year there were approximately 3,700 visitors. However the visitors have a high-quality with mostly decision makers present.

At the PI Demark booth, members Bihl + Wiedemann, Siemens, IFM Electronic, DI Technology and GreenMatic as co-exhibitors. The automation industry in Denmark will show up again in 2019 at Herning Industri Messe, where PI Denmark already has reserved a booth.

IO-Link Workshops in Denmark

Use of IO-Link is still growing in Denmark, and in order to create knowledge of both systems and products, PI Denmark held three workshops in October. The workshops were distributed throughout the country with two events in Jutland and one in Zealand.

Five suppliers co-presented the courses: Balluff, Bihl + Wiedemann, IFM electronic, Phoenix Contact, and Siemens. To further maintain neutrality and an educational spirit, the workshops were hosted at technical schools.

The workshops were divided into two parts:

  • The morning was for theory with a detailed system overview of IO-Link’s system, installation, etc., as well as a quick overview of the five suppliers’ products and parametric software that the participants would have the opportunity to work with later in the day.
  • The afternoon was reserved for practical hands-on work at 10 stations with IO-Link equipment.

In total, over 100 participants from 35 companies were trained, and their evaluations came back as extremely positive.
