PI Technologies for the Digital Transformation – Realize. Use Cases. Together.

The 8th PI Konferenz will highlight the wide-ranging topic of digitization and will focus on determining the status of PI technologies in the digitalization environment and their benefits in automation technology applications.
In order to make the digital transformation in manufacturing a success, asset protection is becoming a key requirement. Therefore, the topic of security will play an important role this year. PI’s security experts have created a comprehensive security concept using recognized methods. At the conference, essential conceptual and architectural elements of PROFINET security as well as the added value for production environments will be explained. The division of responsibilities between manufacturers and users of communication devices also plays an important role –with the aim of taking security to the next level.
Finally, PI is driving collaboration with other industrial communication associations to synchronize efforts and different security concepts and enable easily applicable security concepts in heterogeneous Industry 4.0 applications.
In addition, users from the automotive industry will present how complete transparency of all PROFINET components can be established in terms of hardware release, firmware version, serial number, manufacturing date, order number and the same including all installed submodules. This solution, which is used worldwide and developed together, can serve as inspiration for other users for their own developments in the area of lifecycle-management.
