From June 9 to 10, 2026, 21 omlox experts from nine companies gathered for the omlox Plugfest at Fraunhofer IOSB-INA in Lemgo. Organized by PI and Fraunhofer, the event aimed to validate the interoperability of omlox components from different manufacturers under real-world conditions.
A total of 48 interoperability tests were conducted using components from the following areas: UWB tags, core zones, complementary zones, hubs, and applications. Eighty-six percent of the tests were passed successfully. The results were particularly positive for communication between tags and core zones, and between complementary zones and hubs. Additionally, all positioning accuracy tests were successfully completed.
These outcomes confirm the advanced stage of development of the open omlox standard and demonstrate that products from various manufacturers can seamlessly collaborate. This gives users greater flexibility in selecting and expanding their location solutions and helps them avoid vendor lock-in.
The plugfest results were presented on June 11 as part of omlox Conference Day at SmartFactoryOWL. Live demonstrations and technical presentations by NXP and Hewlett Packard Enterprise highlighted the added value of standardization and interoperability for scalable industrial location solutions.
