Upcoming Training and Events – August 2018

Automatik 2018

September 11-13, 2018 in Copenhagen, Denmark

Automatik 2018 is a trade fair held every two years in the Copenhagen area. The fair is held in one of the city’s largest sports halls, attracting approximately 170 exhibitors, but still there is limited area. This means that regardless of your company size, every booth is roughly 15 m2.

PROFIBUS Denmark’s booth is a joint booth promoting the organization and some of our members who have a stand. These members include IFM Electronics, Bihl & Wiedemann, DI Teknik, GreenMatic, Siemens, and Den Jydske Håndværkerskole (Education).

During the three days the fair is open, the quality of the visitors is very high because there are many decision makers and therefore the fair is valuable. Copenhagen is close to Sweden, and many visitors come from that neighboring country.

The fair will take place in Brøndby Hallen from 11 – 13 September, and the fair is open from 8.30 – 16.00 each day.

IO-Link User Workshop

September 26, 2018 in Graz, Austria

This year, the IO-Link Community will be holding an IO-Link user workshop in Graz, Austria. On September 26, 2018, users and other interested people can learn the basics of the technology and the advantages of application there.

IO-Link’s success is a reason for many companies to join the community and develop products. The range of products and services available is always growing. The main cross-manufacturer IO-Link database, “IODDfinder,” already includes 6,878 IO-Link devices. Growth can also be seen in the impressive number of IODD file downloads – well over one million to date.

IO-Link was originally developed for the easy wiring of intelligent, complex sensors and actuators using a simple, standardized, three-core sensor cable. Meanwhile, IO-Link has proven to be the key in implementing powerful Industry 4.0 concepts. New areas of use have been opened up with IO-Link Safety and IO-Link Wireless.

Basic knowledge will be imparted to participants in a variety of sessions (some of which run at the same time) at the free user workshop in Graz. The workshops begin with a general overview of IO-Link and the integration of IO-Link into the automation landscape. Concrete problem solutions with reports from day-to-day use, as well as a brief presentation on IO-Link Safety, fill up the rest of the morning.

Participants can then choose between one of the two parallel sessions which follow: “technology” or “benefits.” While one series of presentations primarily focuses on the use of the technology, e.g. covering aspects of planning and commissioning, speakers demonstrate the concrete benefits, such as those in maintenance and diagnostics, in the other session. Other focal points include device profiles, IODD, engineering and the replacement of devices during operation. The day is topped off with reports from users and product presentations.

PROFINET Technology Workshop

October 9, 2018 in Freiburg, Germany

So that PROFINET implementation can be made simple and efficient for all companies, several solution providers will explain their corresponding development environments. The aim of the workshop is to learn about how to develop a PROFINET product and to identify implementation options.

PROFIdrive Technology Workshop

October 10, 2018 in Lörrach, Germany

Those wanting to deepen their knowledge of PROFIdrive, encoders, drives, drive-based safety and motion control should visited this technology workshop. The basics for the PROFIdrive and Encoder profiles such as application classes, messages, and parameters are taught. In addition, ways to realize PROFIdrive and Encoder devices and their fields of application are pointed out. The workshop is complemented by a practical live demonstration and interoperability of PROFIdrive and Encoder devices.

Industrie 4.0 Workshop

October 17, 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany

The Industry 4.0 Workshop provides members with information on the current status and roadmap of I4.0 technologies of PI. The workshop is aimed at planners of PROFINET products and systems, i.e. product managers and developers. Users of the technology are also welcome.

Understanding and Applying PROFIBUS, PROFINET and IO-Link

October 24, 2018 in Coventry, UK

Taking place at the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry, this free-to-attend seminar and exhibition will address the key practical issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications, with particular attention being paid to Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Agenda

Building on the valuable feedback gained from delegates at our previous seminars, this event will feature a substantially revised agenda covering a range of subjects from network design, installation and commissioning through to functional safety & cybersecurity, and EMC.

PI Chairman Karsten Schneider will be giving the keynote presentation covering the latest developments in Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), PROFINET in Process applications, Advanced Physical Layer (APL), OPC-UA and Industry 4.0

Who will benefit?

The seminar will be of great value to Designers, Production/System Engineers, Instrument Technicians/Engineers and C&I Engineers involved in the design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and process plant. Covering key application areas such as mechanical handling and logistics, robotics, automotive engineering, electrical and electronics assembly, control systems and energy management, pulp & paper, chemical, utilities, pharmaceutical, packaging and printing, the event will be supported by an exhibition with demonstrations of actual tools used in design, configuration, fault finding and maintenance.
