First Devices with PROFINET over Ethernet-APL

As a world premiere Endress+Hauser has released PROFINET over Ethernet-APL devices for pressure, level and temperature. The devices are available for sales since June 2023. By introducing this technology in the new Micropilot FMR6xB, the Cerabar and Deltabar PMx5xB, PMx7xB as well as iTemp TMT86, Endress+Hauser enables the process industries to take digitalization to the next level by bringing Ethernet to the field. In the following months additional measurement technologies like Coriolis mass, electromagnetic and vortex flowmeters will follow.

PROFINET Development with Device Builder

New from RT-Labs: Device Builder, a web-based tool designed to streamline the configuration process for PROFINET communication when developing a device using our U-Phy solution. Device Builder allows you to model your system data once, and it automatically generates all the necessary files for your PROFINET device. With Device Builder, generating your GSDML file becomes automated. U-Phy is a multi-protocol firmware that supports various industrial communication protocols, including PROFINET.

Adding IoT Value Through Passive PROFINET Network Data Tapping

Hilscher is expanding its IoT portfolio with the containerized application netFIELD App PROFINET Tap. The application functions as a software gateway. It retrieves process data from a PROFINET network without relying on a PLC and converts the data into the MQTT protocol. The container automatically identifies the PROFINET network topology during a network startup phase. Alternatively, the user can prepare the topology and data himself via GSDML files. Users then individually define in the network tree which process data is to be published to an MQTT broker.

Small Form-Factor SCARA Robots with PROFINET

Mecademic has announced it is accepting pre-orders for its latest industrial robot: the micro-SCARA. Mecademic’s latest robot offers space optimization and precision but with fast cycle times and the high precision of a SCARA robot. Micro-SCARA is designed for small component design and manufacturing applications, including electronics, optics, and medical devices, among others. With a maximum reach of 225mm (8.86 inches), Z stroke of 102mm and payload up to 0.5 kg (1.1 lb), the miniature robot integrates its controller and PROFINET interface into its base to minimize its footprint.
