With the PROFINET Ecosystem Platform, PI has set up a virtual collaboration space for anyone who would like to actively play a part in the future of PROFINET technology. The Community Forum is the heart of the platform—a place for technical discussion and cooperation. Technology experts from all around the world meet here to discuss the technical aspects of PROFINET.
New products to announce this month include: cordsets and PROFINET absolute rotary encoders from Turck; servo drives with PROFINET from Festo; flowmeters with PROFINET from ABB; and ultrasonic sensors and inductive sensors, both with IO-Link from Baumer.
PI North America, in cooperation with the PROFI Interface Center, organized the third successful North American PROFINET Plugfest. It was hosted by Phoenix Contact in Houston, TX on September 19-20. Twenty engineers from nine companies brought six controllers and more than a dozen I/O devices to the Plugfest.
Module Type Package (MTP) is an exciting technology that stands to make the integration of machines into a higher-level DCS, SCADA, or MES significantly easier and faster. It is an open standard and completely vendor-agnostic.
On Thursday October 5, 2023, PI North America hosted its third and final IO-Link User Workshop of the year in the United States. The event was held in Minneapolis, MN and was a huge success, attended by well over 100 people.

The company Adeptor, in Norway recently passed the accreditation process to become a PI Competence Center for PROFINET. Separately, ifak e.V., in Germany celebrated its 25th anniversary as a PI Test Lab, with particular focus on process control.
