Helping bridge the gap to Time Sensitive Networking adoption by easing the integration effort for automation vendors is a key focus for PI. We're attacking this two ways: with a PROFINET Community Stack and with simplified device certification testing.
Does PROFINET work over 5G? Can failsafe applications be used? What level of performance can be expected? The testbed developed by ifak, HMS, NXP, and Radisys implemented a PROFINET network over 5G to answer these very questions.
IO-Link Safety is very powerful and is used for safe drives, door locks and control & signaling device boxes, among other things. See the first multi-vendor demo with IO-Link Safety live at the joint PI stand at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany (Hall 5, 210).
New PROFINET products this month include: servos from AMCI, web guides from Maxcess, motion controllers from Parker Hannifin, TSN chips from Renesas, vacuum manifolds from SMC, and RJ45 plugs from Telegärtner.
New PROFIsafe products this month include: a safe key system from Euchner, servo drives and controllers from KEB Automation, high performance safety controllers from Phoenix Contact, and updated absolute rotary encoders from TWK.
New IO-Link products this month include: interlocks from Euchner, radar level sensors from ifm, pressure switches from KROHNE, double-sheet sensors and I/O hubs from Pepperl+Fuchs, grippers form SCHUNK, and distance and fiber optic sensors from SICK.
PROFINET is fast, transparent and future-oriented, making it an excellent fit for drive technology manufacturers like Dunkermotoren. The integration of the complete electronics into the motor housing offers a super-compact overall solution with synchronous communication and eliminates the need for costly gateways.
Lots of omlox activity this month, from PI and omlox exhibiting at IMTS in Chicago, to a new omlox reference installation in Germany, to new technology and updates from an omlox hub software provider, Flowcate. Read all the latest here.
